The apartment is located in via dei Banchi Vecchi, near Campo de' Fiori and Piazza Navona, two of Rome's most famous squares as well as the elegant Via Giulia, the Pantheon and Campo Marzio. You will find a myriad of small restaurants, and shops as well as artisans, craftsmen, antiquarians in the area.
This vacation rental is 70 sq. mt. and has been completely remodeled and has air conditioning to make your stay in Rome more comfortable.
|
The apartment is on the 2nd floor of a historic building (walk-up) and is composed of: two double bedrooms, both with queen beds, that look out on the splendid facade of the church of St. LUCIA of the Gonfalone which dates back to the XII century and was rebuilt in 1511. The larger of the two bedrooms also has a chair that folds out to a single bed to accommodate a 5th guest. The bedrooms are very light and bright and from one of the windows your gaze will arrive at the Tiber River. The apartment is located in one of the more evocative and animated side streets of Rome.

The living room is decorated in contrast colors: yellow, black and gold. Yellow because it si the primary color of the apartment; black for a strong contrast and gold to warm things up. The owner has also added a special touch: a tromp l'oeil fireplace!
The living room looks out on an internal cloister and is therefore less bright. Several steps have been taken to create light including special lighting and mirrors to reflect light. The effect is guaranteed!
An eat-in kitchen with table and chairs is equipped with everything you need to make your meals including microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove and oven.
There are 2 bathrooms, each complete with sink, wc/bidet and shower. The apartment also has a washing machine. It also comes equipped with satellite TV, DVD and CD player.
A small, but characteristic balcony looks out on an internal courtyard as well as other balconies and terraces full of color and the "spirit" of Rome.
Upon your arrival, the owner will provide you with, in addition to her knowledge and experience, also a large number of guidebooks, brochures and maps of Rome so that you can immediately start to take advantage of all Rome has to offer.
Rome Airport Transfers: Fiumicino & CiampinoDolce Rome Apartments has arranged an agreement with a Taxi company and has succeeded in establishing a fixed price to and from the two airports in Rome. |
| For small group walking tours, Natalia recommends Context Travel, which in her experience is one of the best in Rome! |
Our lodgings offer the best between a bed and breakfast and an apartment rental: cozy and comfortable like a B&B yet the apartment remains always and only at your disposal, giving you all the privacy you want for your vacation in Rome.

Rome in August
For a cultural holiday that also includes time at the seaside and beach, Rome in August is ideal.
The city is much less chaotic and crowded and you'll find the lines to visit museums and monuments much shorter, leaving you all the time you'll need to spend half the day enjoying the sights in Rome and the rest at the beach at Ostia Lido.
The " Lido di Ostia " is easily reached with a frequent train from Rome and in less than 30 minutes you'll be at the seaside. We recommend a side trip to "Ostia Antica," the ancient Roman port with some of the best conserved ruins and mosaics in the world.
And here is the story of the building:
(from "Le strade di Roma" - Newton Compton Editors)
HOUSE OF CHARLES IV OF BOHEMIA: there is a legend regarding the founding of the Hospital of the nation of Bohemia, which was found at number 132 via dei Banchi Vecchi. As the legend goes, Charles IV had promised Pope Urbano V - in occasion of his coming to Rome in order to be crowned king in 1355 - to not enter the city before the date set for the ceremony. However, unable to resist his desire to visit the Holy city (he was staying with his entourage at Prati di Nerone), he disguised himself as a pilgrim and was able wander about Rome for several days. He stayed in this modest building that he later acquired, designating it as a hostel for the pilgrims of his nation. The plaque that is still found on the building is dated 1357 and refers to the second visit of the King to Rome, when perhaps he acquired the building and the hospital founded. The plaque reads as follows (in Latin):
CAROLUS IMPERATOR
IIII REX BOHEMIE ME FEC
IT ET H RORAW PRO
CURATOR HOSPITALIS
PRESENTIS ET NACIO
NIS BOHEMARUM RUIN
OSUM REFECIT ANNO
MCCCLVII
