Additional restaurants in Rome featuring Roman and Italian Cuisine:

Checco er Carettiere: Via Benedetta 10 (Trastevere)
Traditional dishes such as pasta all'amatriciana, spaghetti alla carrettiera (tomatoes, mushrooms and tuna) tagliolini with prawns, mixed fried seafood, Roman style veal cutlets and for finish an exquisite cherry cake. A good selection of wines, a well-organized service and a typical atmosphere, which in the summer moves to the charming garden. For an even more typical experience, an opening though the wall takes you to an old osteria ambiance serving roman dishes. An authentic restaurant within the restaurant. (EU 40/80)

Checchino dal 1887 : Via di Monte Testaccio 30 (Testaccio)
The cuisine is simple but superb, taking traditionally "poor" ingredients such as offal and, with skilled cooking and seasoning, making them lighter on the palate without compromising the Roman culinary tradition. Stand out dishes include "coda alla vaccinara" (oxtail stewed in tomato-based sauce) and the pan-fried wild boar in plum sauce. (EU 40/80)

Al 34 : Via Mario dei Fiori 34 (Spanish Steps)
Located in the center of town near the Spanish Steps, this restaurant is warm and inviting: Specialties include squid fettuccine with seafood, king prawns, verzino passato with garlic, swordfish alla siciliana, tonarelli with scampi and radicchio, beef tagliata with arugula and balsamic vinegar. Also known for its excellent Roman Cuisine. (RU 25/40)

Isole di Sicilia : Via Garibaldi 68 (Trastevere)
Located in Trastevere area this restaurant is decorated with Caltagirone ceramics and serves the fine cousine of small Sicilian islands. Try specialties like Marettimo linguine (grouper, shrimp and Nero D'Avola cheese) squid ink spaghetti, spaghetti with Favignana tuna sword-fish steaks, sweet'n'sour tuna, and a variety of Sicilian desserts such as cannoli, cassata, babà and special cookies from the islands.

La Taverna del Ghetto Kosher : Via del Portico D'Ottavia 8 (Ghetto)
This restaurant offers a memorable blend of traditional Roman and Jewish cuisine. Start with pappardelle pasta with funghi porcini and dried beef, or Amatriciana bucatuini. Second courses include basket salt cod with pine nuts, raisins and cherry tomatoes. Jewish-style mutton and beef fillet with green pepper sauce. Home made desserts.

Hole in One : Rampa Mignanelli 10 (Spanish Steps)
Just opened near the Spanish Step, this stylish restaurant specializes in fresh fish dishes. The 8Eu lunch buffet offers a vast range of cold cuts, cheeses as well as hot fish and meat dishes. The wine list, over 200 labels, is another good reason to visit this city-center restaurant.

Vegeterian Restaurant:

Margutta Ristorante : Via margutta 118 (Piazza del Popolo)
At this vegetarian hot spot, non-vegetarians alike will delight in the relaxing atmosphere, artwork, and above all the masterpieces that arrive at the table. The lunch menu offers light and delicious options. For dinner the lights dim, and the kitchen becomes a chef's palette. Try the ravioli stuffed with creamy burrata cheese and topped with eggplant, tomato and basil sauce, tagliolini with figs, fresh tomatoes and balsamic vinegar, fava bean soufflé with pecorino cheese and fried zucchini flowers. Save room for dreamy desserts like chocolate and currants parfait with chocolate sauce.
