The living room is decorated in contrast colors: yellow, black and gold. Yellow because it si the primary color of the apartment; black for a strong contrast and gold to warm things up. The owner has also added a special touch: a tromp l'oeil fireplace!

The living room looks out on an internal cloister and is therefore less bright. Several steps have been taken to create light including special lighting and mirrors to reflect light. The effect is guaranteed!

An eat-in kitchen with table and chairs is equipped with everything you need to make your meals including microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove and oven.

There are 2 bathrooms, each complete with sink, wc/bidet and shower. The apartment also has a washing machine. It also comes equipped with satellite TV, DVD and CD player.

A small, but characteristic balcony looks out on an internal courtyard as well as other balconies and terraces full of color and the "spirit" of Rome.

Rome in August

For a cultural holiday that also includes time at the seaside and beach, Rome in August is ideal.

The city is much less chaotic and crowded and you'll find the lines to visit museums and monuments much shorter, leaving you all the time you'll need to spend half the day enjoying the sights in Rome and the rest at the beach at Ostia Lido.

The " Lido di Ostia " is easily reached with a frequent train from Rome and in less than 30 minutes you'll be at the seaside. We recommend a side trip to "Ostia Antica," the ancient Roman port with some of the best conserved ruins and mosaics in the world.

History of the Building
And here is the story of the building:
(from "Le strade di Roma" - Newton Compton Editors)

campo fiori plaqueHOUSE OF CHARLES IV OF BOHEMIA: there is a legend regarding the founding of the Hospital of the nation of Bohemia, which was found at number 132 via dei Banchi Vecchi. As the legend goes, Charles IV had promised Pope Urbano V - in occasion of his coming to Rome in order to be crowned king in 1355 - to not enter the city before the date set for the ceremony. However, unable to resist his desire to visit the Holy city (he was staying with his entourage at Prati di Nerone), he disguised himself as a pilgrim and was able wander about Rome for several days. He stayed in this modest building that he later acquired, designating it as a hostel for the pilgrims of his nation. The plaque that is still found on the building is dated 1357 and refers to the second visit of the King to Rome, when perhaps he acquired the building and the hospital founded. The plaque reads as follows (in Latin):

  • CAROLUS IMPERATOR
  • IIII REX BOHEMIE ME FEC
  • IT ET H RORAW PRO
  • CURATOR HOSPITALIS
  • PRESENTIS ET NACIO
  • NIS BOHEMARUM RUIN
  • OSUM REFECIT ANNO
  • MCCCLVII
