The area of Rome

The apartment is located near the Roman Forum and Colosseum in the historic center of Rome (see map of Rome) in the area called Monti, ancient borgo of the " Suburra " (the name means"area under the city"), mentioned in historical sources, that still today maintains a popular and characteristic flavor. The area is well connected by public transportation and the apartment is located just a few meters away from the metro station Cavour.

Monuments and Archaeological Sites
The apartment enjoys a very central position relative to the monuments and archaeological sites in Rome, among which:

COLOSSEUM (COLOSSEO):colosseo
Built in 72 AD by Vespasiano.
In the amphitheater, that could hold up to 50,000 people, shows of gladiators were held, fights between men and beasts, very popular in Roman times. It is the largest amphitheater of the Roman world.

 

ROMAN FORUM (FORO ROMANO):foro romano
It was the center of the political and juridical life in ancient Rome and provides a unique experience full of emotions while walking among the ruins of the various monuments such as the Via Sacra, the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Basilica Emilia etc. etc.

 

ARCH OF CONSTANTINE (ARCO DI COSTANTINO):arco costantino

It is the largest of the three triumphal arcs in Rome (25 mt.) and was built in 313 AD to celebrate the victory of Constantine on Massenzio. It is located not far from the Colosseum, where the Via Sacra ends.

 

CAPITOL (CAMPIDOGLIO):campidoglio
It is situated on the Capitoline Hill and the stairs leading up were created by Michelangelo: In the center of the square you will find the statue of Marcus Aurelius. Today it is the center of the Roman Municipality offices.

 

ST. PETER IN CHAINS (S. PIETRO IN VINCOLI):s pietro vincoli
Built by the wife of emperor Valentinian III, the church is most well known for statue of Moses, one of Michelangelo's masterpiece.

Transportation
This apartment is easily reached from either of Rome's airports, FIUMICINO and CIAMPINO, or from the main train station, Termini.

Rome Airport Transfers: Fiumicino & Ciampino
Dolce Rome Apartments has arranged an agreement with a Taxi company and has succeeded in establishing a fixed price to and from the two airports in Rome.
» Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci):

4-5 passengers (mini van) - Euro 60;
» Ciampino:
1-3 passengers - Euro 45;
4-5 passengers (mini van) - Euro 55;
An extra charge of € 5,00 will be applied from 10.00 p.m. to 7.00 a.m.

Additional Transfers

Transportation to/from Tivoli (Villa D'Este first and then Villa Adriana) 4/5 people € 225 (entrance tikets and guides are not included) maximum 5 hours

For those of you who prefer the train, the following information will get you to the apartment.

FROM FIUMICINO:
Take the direct train for the train station Termini (25 minutes) and just one stop of the Line B of the Meter for the station Cavour. The apartment is located just a few meters from the station.

FROM CIAMPINO:
Take the bus from the airport to the end of Meter Line A, Agnagnina, and from there to the train station Termini. Follow the directions above for the Line B of the metro.

FROM TERMINI:
One stop on Line B to the station Cavour. The metro station is located just a few meters from the apartment.

For further information on the public transportation in Rome, we recommend you consult the website of the Rome Transportation Authority (ATAC) that contains information on bus routes, the metro, buying tickets as well as a good map of Rome.
